HUNDREDS of parents and pupils turned up to take part in Roose School’s gala on Saturday.
A special skateboard ramp was set up by Cumbria police and Cumbria Fire and Rescue also brought along one of their newest engines to show off to pupils.
Susan Gorry-Edwards, and her husband Peter, were the two main organisers of the event, but the pair stressed the gala and its success belonged to the children.
Mrs Gorry-Edwards, a parent and school governor, said: “A lot of hard work and organisation has gone into this.
“For the past two months we’ve been setting it up and the children have really enjoyed being part of it all.”
Mr Myers, a friend of Mrs Gorry-Edwards, said the gala was a tribute to the fantastic relationship between communities and schools.
He added: “It’s always nice to be invited along and to show some support. With schools, it’s important that the parents and community do more fund-raising and support them in this way.”
