RADIO Five presenter Danny Baker had his own take on Barrow and Carlisle’s exploits in the first round FA Cup replays on the station’s 606 phone in.
Baker was bemoaning football’s long-distance night trips for fans, and referring to Carlisle supporters’ waste-of-time trip to floodlit-failure hit Grays.
Baker put forward his own solution to resolve the misery of the long-distance football fan.
“Why didn’t Carlisle fans ring up Eastbourne fans and say we’ll go to Barrow and support your team if you go to Grays and support ours. Then everyone would have been making hay and would have been in bed by 11pm!”
Barrow AFC fans could tell Baker that they have to make longer trips than anyone else in the UK as they journey their way around the southern-biased Conference almost every other Saturday.
