Inspired by Van Gogh

MONDAY was the beginning of the preparation for European Day.
We had to draw and colour the Dutch flag. Some of the class even did a little factsheet on Holland and found out lots. Our homework is now being displayed in the main hall.
On Friday every class came to school in their country’s colours, like reception who came dressed in green, red and white for Italy, and Year Four, those who were representing the Ukraine, came in yellow and blue.
Our class learnt how to say hello in Dutch, which is “Hallo”.
Then we did a project on Van Gogh, a famous Dutch artist. We were given a picture puzzle based on his work.
We got a piece of the puzzle each to draw on A3 paper and colour it. Then we had to put it together to make a bigger version of the picture.
All classes did a special project on their country, or something to do with it.
Year Five, our class, did our little presentation for a short while and some people at the end were given special prizes for all their hard work.
Our day was especially fun because of all the different activities.
We think that the day was a great idea because of the way it combined language education with a fun-packed day!
