Power boaters escape injury as craft flip on lake

TWO men were lucky to escape injury when their powerboats spiralled into the air as they were pushing for a world speed record in South Lakeland.

They were touching speeds of 100mph at this week’s Coniston Powerboat Record Week when their vessels flipped.
Coniston Power Boat Records Week is the only event on the powerboat racing calendar to bring together all classes of boat, and is the finale to the racing season.
The annual event began in 1970.
