CHILDREN are invited to take part in a competition at a Barrow supermarket.
By Nicola Park
The competition, which started this week in Morrisons’ cafe, gives children the opportunity to draw a picture that best illustrates the month in which they were born.
Twelve winning pictures will be included in a 2009 calendar, which will be put on sale across the country, to raise money for the company’s charity partnership ChildLine and Help the Aged to help support their ChildLine and SeniorLine services over the festive period.
The winning artists will each be given 10 calendars as gifts for friends and family and the prize package will be wrapped up with Nintendo Wiis as well for added fun during the holidays.
Marianne Jones, café controller at Morrisons, said: “We want as many children as possible to come up with great ideas to illustrate the month they were born to help us make the best calendar we can.
“Every Christmas we have a design competition for our young customers, but this is a great chance for young artists to come up with a great design and, at the same time, help to make sure that someone is there to answer calls from those needing help from these vital services this Christmas.”
Entry forms can be collected and submitted from all local Morrisons cafes.
